About Madrid
Madrid is the capital of Spain and one of the most vibrant cities in Europe. Located in the heart of the Iberian Peninsula, it combines history, art and modernity in a way that captivates visitors. Full of wide boulevards, parks and grand buildings, this historic capital offers countless places to discover.
You can start with El Retiro Park, a green oasis in the center of the city, home to beautiful spots such as the Crystal Palace and the Velázquez Palace, both often used for art exhibitions. Another essential plan is visiting the city’s famous museums, especially the Prado Museum and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, which hold outstanding collections that include masterpieces by Goya and Velázquez.
The Plaza Mayor is another must-see in Madrid, a lively square with a strong social atmosphere where you can sit on a terrace and watch the world go by. While you are there, it is almost obligatory to try the city’s typical dish: the famous calamari sandwich, usually served in traditional bars near the square.
Not far away stands the Royal Palace, the official residence of the Spanish monarchy, an impressive building surrounded by carefully designed gardens and monumental squares. Close to it you will find the Temple of Debod, an authentic Egyptian temple relocated to Madrid, which has become one of the city’s most special spots, especially at sunset.
Other emblematic places you should not miss include Gran Vía, known for its theaters, cinemas and shops, and Puerta del Sol, one of the city’s busiest squares and a symbolic meeting point for both locals and visitors. Together, all these landmarks make Madrid a dynamic and welcoming city that invites you to stroll, enjoy its culture and taste its gastronomy.
